Achieving has always been my life-force. I've always admired uniqueness, imagination, creativity and color. Although I have studied something completely different in college, which was Nutrition and Dietetics, which I still do love perusing, creating was something I treasured.

When I got pregnant in May 2006, I initiated a passage for the creativeness that had been stacking up during my years in Lebanon. I started designing distinctive maternity tops for my growing belly. I began by making up cute sayings to show off my pregnancy, and I started using Swarovski crystals, silkscreening and rhinestuds to create my designs. I wanted my top not just to be snug and soft, but I also wanted it to be long enough to cover my belly and nicely fitted and stretchy to let the world know that this tummy is "100% baby Fat"! (Now one of my top selling phrases).

Other pregnant ladies loved my tees and from there I decided to make it into a small business – Belly Button. I was creating garments that made pregnant women feel modish and comfy, showing that blooming belly rather than hiding it.

When God gave me the most perfect gift of all in Feb 2007, my today 2 year old son, Salim Kanafani, I was inspired to launch Belly Button's baby line. From newborn clothes to little girl's dresses and accessories, I took myself 25 years back to when I myself was a little girl, I presented original pieces that spelled Hip and Funky - this is what Belly Button is all about.

Belly Button quickly became recognized as "hip couture for bellies and babies". What makes Belly Button clothing and accessories different? I provide one-of a kind pieces, I may sometimes decide to make only ONE piece of a certain maternity top for example. Many of the collections are handmade, hand painted or hand embellished with crystals, creating a matchless look. I do a lot of custom apparel too such as tops that carry a child's name. My idea is to make each piece of clothing as unique as the person wearing it!

With the support of my husband and family and inspired by my son, Belly Button promises to offer the most special clothing for growing bellies, and little angels.
